Rika de Groot
Born in 1963 in Heemskerk, grew up in Bakkum, a small village near the North sea. After highschool (Atheneum B for the 'elder' dutch readers), I went to Amsterdam to study Dietetics. Obviously not because the huge amount of jobs waiting for me afterwards. After a couple of years roaming around I decided to enter a PION-retraining. A wild but lucky guess. That was the start of my IT-career.
From May 1990 through July 1997 I’ve been working with Cap Gemini. During the first couple of years in ‘classic’ system development projects as a programmer, tester and designer.
In the year 1995 PeopleSoft HR entered my career. Cap Gemini then developed the Dutch version of PeopleSoft HR, I got involved and didn’t let go of it since.
In February 1997 three Cap-colleagues and I started our own PeopleSoft Consultancy company. Beside my work as a PeopleSoft HR consultant I was the HR-manager of that company.
I realized that this wasn't the way I wanted to work for the years to come. In April 2003 I sold my shares to my colleagues and left the company. I needed to reconsider my future. But, after just a couple of weeks a former client called. Whether I wanted to support them at the upgrade from PeopleSoft HR 7.5 to 8.3. It would be only for a couple of weeks.
A ‘couple of weeks’ became almost two years. After a successful implementation of the new PeopleSoft version in January 2004, I’ve been designing and realising a number of customizations; Illness reporting, MassChange and Interfaces. I have also taken part in the selection of a Case Management Tool for the control of illness-related absence.
As from September 2004 I have also worked for the Holland Casino Pension Fund. They were in the middle of the implementation of a new system for participants administration. My main assignment was to design workflow processes.
Life’s still more than just PeopleSoft Consultancy. That’s why by the end of 2004, I founded Mohja. This company is with the commitment of freelancers, going to make it possible for others to make an independent living as well.
I still like to work as a consultant. So if you need a PeopleSoft HR consultant, contact Mohja.
